The Video Speed Changer modifies the HTML5 Video element's playbackRate property to play the video at the desired speed. During recording, the video plays at the adjusted rate while Canvas captures frames and MediaRecorder records the output. The actual output video duration changes: 2x speed halves the duration, 0.5x doubles it. Audio speed is handled by the browser's built-in playback rate adjustment, which changes pitch proportionally. For speed-changed audio, the Web Audio API's playbackRate on a BufferSourceNode can maintain pitch while changing speed, though this is computationally intensive. The tool records the canvas stream at the normal frame rate, resulting in a video that plays at normal speed but shows the sped-up or slowed-down content.
